in my tournament ( id: 7141 TallyHo) and in many others you encounter the same unreasonable problem:
Players that start in a tournament with less than 15 games played have often a ridiculous rating not true to their capacity.
Either the junior/noob/virgin ( ) )player has won a couple of games and is set to a ridiculous HIGH number which results in the unfair situation that his opponent in the (semi-)finals has an easier task (noob = easy win, and with 4-4 equality..the lower rating but more skilful opponent wins for sure).
Or , in my particular case, the junior/noob/virgin ( ) )player has lost his first couple of games and is set to a ridiculous LOW number which results in the unfair situation that he always wins in the (semi-)finals with 4-4 equality..even though he is quite skilled (as the games after the first losses show) and his rating has since rocketed upwards, such that given his lesser gained points in the tournament he/she would not pass through the 4-4 TPR equation.
a) do not allow players with less than 15 games played to participate a tournament or championship.
b) Set the rating fixed to 1500 until the 15th played game and THEN calculate the correct/balanced rating. (so do play in tournaments but with 1500 rating only).
The argument that all in all it balances out is nonsense.
(The average between born and dead is not half alive...).
