RULES:
Initial pairings will be made "top down"; that is, the highest ranked player plays #2, #3 against #4, #5 against #6, etc., and winners advance to the next round within their bracket

Do I read it well? If the ranks are:

Player1 1923
Player2 1873
Player3 1774
Player4 1666

Will the matches be: Player1 vs Player2 and Player3 vs Player4?

That is correct.

That's not similar to a Tennis tournament, where #1 and #2 only can meet in the final. But thanks for the explanation.

.... then you receive a win by forfeit, and advancement to Round Two; no other way to handle that.

Yes indeed, and this is a good illustrative example of how the tie break works in this system. As the lower rated player in the match, you also had the handicap benefit (even though your scores were large enough to not need it), so you win by the tally of 175.75 to 140. Very good game scores!

Both my games with oscarohara have timed out waiting for oscarohara to play the next moves. Does this mean I win by default?
