I would like to understand why in tournaments results when you are eliminated in the first turn, it appears sometimes the terminology GROUP and sometimes the term is POULE.

I believe it has something to do with who sets up the game. I believe Poule is easily translated as Group (from the Dutch?) although more literally as Pool (which is the first round grouping).
