Does anyone know how to tell the difference between "hit" and "hit and sunk"? I don't want to waste shots on either end of a ship that is sunk in case it may be a longer ship. Thanks!

A battleship won't sink by just two hits.
A mine sweeper will sink by 2 hits.
It's up to you to find out, what kind of ship it is. That's the game. _________________ Good luck and have fun
A ship larger then 4 hits, won't sink by just two hits.
A 2hit ship sinks by 2 hits.
Thanks for the reply. What I mean to say is that if you were playing the traditional board game, your opponent would respond to each shot with "miss", "hit", or "hit and sunk." I don't see how on YourturnMyturn to tell the difference between "hit" and "hit and sunk".
Here's an example:
H = Hit
M = Miss
. = Don't know yet
.abcdef
1......
2.HHM..
3......
Maybe I have sunk the size 2 ship. Or, maybe I need to aim at a2 in order to sink a size 3 ship. Is there a way to know without wasting an extra shot?
The rules for the Hasbro game are that you tell your opponent which ship he has hit when he gets a hit and when and which ship is sunk. It is a child's game.
This is not that game. It is a derivation of it. It's only slightly more difficult and only take a few more minutes to play.
We Americans are more used to instant gratification and not having to think too much, ROFL! Actually, if the rules for more original American game rules were more like these, our kids would probably be smarter - speaking as a teacher...
