Hi, I am just wondering how this could be but i am playing someone in a UR game who has only ever played this game 1 time but their provisional rating is 1734? So how did they begin at 1500 yet win 234 points from winning a single game? It is higher than my own score & i'm around the top 10 players of UR. I don't understand how someone can get this score on 1 game (the opponent they lost to is rated below 1500). Thanks. |

If you have played less than 15 games of a particular game, you have a provisional rating (indicated with a *). This means your rating can fluctuate a lot and can for example go down if you win (against somebody with a lower rating) or go up if you lose (against somebody with a higher rating). It also can mean your rating will not change if you win or lose. If you have a final rating those 'strange' fluctuations will not appear anymore. |
