The will always be cheaters, at many different levels.

Click a square and undo because it looks wrong. (cheating?) Yes I do that!
Play half a dozen moves on a board. (cheating?) Never done it yet!
Use a program is cheating. I save that for finished games.

Blackhole version of game. (no good for otb unlikely to be adopted by purists)
(unless you want to reduce draws)
Have not seen a program that can play it.
Would need more programs e.g.

The_Burglar,

Do you think someone is cheating in a game you played? I'm confused by the randomness (seemingly) of your post.

I know there are people who cheat on this site, but who they are I don't know, and don't care, if points mean that much to them, let them have it. I still got to play a fun game, albeit against some engine instead of another human.

If I think they are cheating by winning all the games I play with them,(no one is that lucky) to win all the time, Laughing
I just stop playing them,
Laughing put them on my Ignore list, Then I dont have to play them
other then in a tournament ,
I do have a long Ignore list, Laughing

Luck has nothing to do with reversi. If you or I play Tamenori, Seeley, Borassi, or any other world champion we will lose 10,000 games out of 10,000. Luck can have an effect on games like backgammon, streetsoccer, summy, and even crack the code, but reversi is 100% skills.

There are other ways to catch cheaters. The problem is, what can you do when you catch one?

If you think that someone is cheating on you, you can send a p.m to the admins (see at the right: http://www.yourturnmyturn.com/tipstricks.php) or fill in the contact form. http://www.yourturnmyturn.com/contact.php

Interestingly enough a player was caught cheating at the French Championship last week-end and suspended indefinetely. He had a PDA strapped to his leg and has allegedly admitted cheating at OTB tournaments since last year. The WOF is investigating the matter and it seems that the standings for the current EGP may have to be recalculated.
From a personal communication I heard that the FFO had been suspicious for a while due to this player's sudden ratings increased and to the fact that his moves matched perfectly moves made by computer programs.

I suspect that Blackhole version of game is a win for the starting player. Maybe with an even number of blackholes it could be a fairer game?

Anybody that has a top rating of 2500+ must be using a program....
They should let the players put the first four on the board...

What does this sentence mean?

"They should let the players put the first four on the board..."

In Reversi they should have an empty board to start... then one by one the pieces go on the board...

That doesn't solve anything. Many advanced Othello/Reversi computer programs can handle an opening with empty squares.

Unfortunately, as soon as you start playing 12x12 someone would create a program for that too and we'd forced to play 14x14. And so on.
