In the current backgammon championship, round one group one, I won five and lost two games, and tied with another player for 2nd/3rd.
We both have the same TPR points, but we also started the tournament with the same exact rating, 1873, so what is the next tiebreak? I beat the other player head to head, which should count for something, but the system ranked the other player in 2nd place and me in 3rd place, which seems wrong

This is the overview of a particular Tournament. If 2 user have the same points. TPR (Tournament Performace Rating) is decisive (the higher the better). If TPR is equal, the deciding factor is the individual rating at the start of the tournament (the lower the better). In case of equal standings after this, the deciding factor is the current rating (the higher the better).
