I think that this game would be so much more interesting if it had Tally-Ho's rule where a piece is not allowed to return to the space from which it came on the very next turn.

This would make it possible to offer up lower-valued pieces as sacrifices to lure higher-valued pieces into traps.

Hi Zap,

Its not far from the rule. You may only move 3 times back and forth between 2 squares in strategy. So when youre 2 (colonel) is at a4 and the opponents 3 (major) is at a6, where other pieces are at a7, b7 and c6. Then you will get the 3 (and if the 1 is at another field or already taken, you can get the 3 even without risks.

But its not a good idea to make it like Tally Ho. It means you cannot go back to the square you came from.

That means that if you put a piece in front of another piece, you almost always lose the piece cause you cannot escape anymore. Thereby you can not bluff anymore to see if a piece runs away, cause he cannot escape anyway Smile.

this rule prevents the game from being to long lasting.. if im in an advantageous situation I can just move back and forth and wait for my opponent to attack me which will put him in a situation where the game can no longer progress. the turtle defense is nearly impossible to crack.. ive had games that have lasted over 300 moves.
